USB CABLE MODEM
If you don't have an Ethernet hub or router, then you may consider using a USB cable modem. A cable modem converts the broadband signal into data understandable to your wired device and vice-versa. If you have a cable modem that connects directly to your machine via USB, then you will need a second network card to connect to the game console. Note that if you have a USB Ethernet adaptor for use with your Cable Uplink you can use any of the other configurations since a USB Ethernet adaptor is basically just a type of network card. An additional card is ONLY needed if your Cable Modem connects directly to your machine via USB (no network cable).

Basic Setup. For Demonstration Purposes Only.
Time Warner Cable is not liable for any damages to customer's
equipment resulting from customer's improper game console hookup.

ETHERNET CABLE
An Ethernet cable, usually category 5 cable, carries the broadband signal.

HUB/SWITCH
A hub/switch splits the broadband data signal between Internet devices. Each device is assigned an IP. Road Runner customers are allowed 3 dynamic IPs.

SONY PLAYSTATION 2 - Basic Setup
You will need to run a setup software when installing your router software specific to your cable service and your PS2 network adaptor disc does the setup automatically. Your best bet is to purchase an all-in-one router with 4-port switch included, such as brands like Linksys, D-Link, 3COM, Netgear, Cisco, Orinoco, Asante, Proxim, SMC, or Siemens. These usually run between $75 to $125.
